Update - Difficulty Options, Settlements, and More
Settlements
Settlements have been revamped to be more rewarding and have better structure.
Trading
Traders will travel from the Main Keep to a discovered Settlement to trade, then return to the Main Keep with the gold they've made. Each Settlement has its own value of gold that it will trade at, with Settlements farther from the Main Keep typically offering more gold. Each trade made with a Settlement will temporarily decay its trade value (though never going below a certain threshold), but the value will slowly be regained over time.
You can decide which Settlements are prioritized, or even turn trading off completely for individual Settlements. However, due to the trading decay, it is often more lucrative to not focus on any single Settlement too much.
Trading Posts
Trading Posts can be built wherever you'd like, but are best if built between your Main Keep and Settlements. Each Trading Post will increase the value of all trades, but it also has another purpose. Trading Posts will provide an aura for all nearby Traders that increases their armor and speed, helping them get to and from Settlements safely and quickly. All benefits from Trading Posts are improved when they are upgraded.
Reputation and Perks
Each trade made with a Settlement will gain you reputation with that Settlement. As you gain reputation, your rank will increase. Progressing from being Recognized to Respected, Admired, Honored, and ultimately Revered. Each time you gain a rank with a Settlement, you will get to pick 1 of 3 perks that will benefit you or some part of your Kingdom. Each Settlement has its own unique perks.
Difficulty Settings
Three difficulty options have been added to the game (Easy, Normal, and Hard). These difficulties modify the health and power of enemies globally. This is not necessarily how difficulty settings will work in the full game, but offers more accessibility and/or challenge to the demo.
Easy: enemies have 65% health and power.
Normal: enemies have 100% health and power.
Hard: enemies have 135% health and power.
Post Level Dungeon
A new dungeon has been added that can be accessed after the level has been beaten, if you choose to continue. This dungeon is not required for completion of the level, but it can be a fun way to put your heroes to the test. The dungeon features 3 new enemies and will be much more challenging than anything your heroes have faced previously. So make sure they're leveled up and have purchased a significant number of upgrades!
Other Changes
A significant number of small (and medium) changes have also been made. These include: balance changes, visual improvements, added game options, QoL improvements, increased performance, and of course bug fixes.
